Cast By Light is a 2D puzzle platformer created for arcade where the player takes the role of Ann as she searches for her missing partner in a post-apocalyptic world where sunlight is deadly. In the game, the player not only controls Ann but also the movement of the sun to create shadows to allow Ann a safe passage. The game was developed by Shadow Walkers, a team of six first-year Game Design students, over the course of a ten-week period at Uppsala University.
Upon release, the game participated in Gotland Game Conference 2019 where the game received positive feedback from the public and industry professionals alike. The game not only won the Jury Spotlight Award but was also nominated for Best Art Direction and Best Game in Show, the only project by first-year students to do so at GGC 2019.
SUMMARY OF CONTRIBUTIONS
I was responsible for graphic design (including logos and promotional material for Gotland Game Conference), and adjusting the 2D assets as necessary to make sure they were ready to be implemented to the engine. I was also responsible for changing the said assets in case of changes to the level design.
Collaborated with another artist in character design and establishing the look of the game, and in the creation of 2D assets.
Collaborated with a team of five others in game design.
